Article: "Help for single mums in downturn" – ‘Main’ Section (Pg A4-5)
Question 1:
What project was launched to help single mums? Briefly explain what is this project about?The National Trades Union Congress(NTUC) project is launched to help single mums.
The main focus of the project is to target single mums who are likely to face a tough time in the current downturn.
The NTUC project also help the single mums by helping them to find a job, able to join support groups that arrange activities for them and their children.
*********************************************************************************Question 2: Imagine you come across a single mum who is unemployed, what are some advice you can give her? Who can she turn to?If I were to come across a single mum who is unemployed, i would advise her to turn to the National Trades Union Congress(NTUC). As the National Trades Union Congress can help her in finding a job, joining support groups that arrange activities for her and her children.
Apart from helping her to find jobs, the NTUC's Women's Development Secretariat(WDS) can also help her in terms of encouraging her to generate an income if she she could not go out to work to make use of other skills, like baking or sewing.
